Workshops & Events
UMM Microfinance Workshops & Events are designed to bring together actors from across the microfinance and financial inclusion sectors, including practitioners, professors, experts and students to generate a fruitful exchange of knowledge & experiences.
Microfinance WorkshopsUMM Workshops center around a specific theme and are usually held over two to three days at a leading European university. To date, UMM has held 11 workshops at 7 universities, bringing together over 700 participants from across Europe and the field of microfinance / financial inclusion.
UMM Microfinance Workshops also offer students who have won a UMM Scholarship or Award the opportunity to participate as speakers and share their findings on a European scale. European universities can host workshops and contribute speakers, and microfinance practitioners, public agencies, NGOs, companies and foundations also have the possibility of being represented by speakers. Previous workshop topics have included "New challenges for microfinance: mobile banking, remittances and green finance" at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in July 2013 and "Financial Inclusion in Latin America" at the University of Salamanca in May 2013. Panel SessionsUMM Panel Sessions are opportunities for experts, practitioners and UMM awarded students to share their experiences & contribute to professional exchange and the dissemination of relevant information in the financial inclusion sector.
